Working Together To Be The Best We Can Be

Understanding the World

Do you like eating eggs?

My favourite is a runny boiled egg with some toast 'soldiers' to dip into it...yummy!!

You can also cook eggs in lots of other ways too...poached, fried, scrambled, as an omelette,

...and use them too to bake cakes or make pancakes!

Perhaps this week you could ask your grown-ups if they can help you to cook some eggs in different ways so you can taste them.

Which is your favourite?

Ask your grown-up to crack open an egg for you.

 What can you see inside?

Do you known what all the different parts of an egg are called?

Do you know where most of the eggs we eat come from?

That's right...they are laid by hens.

The hen lays one egg every day...she doesn't need to incubate them all, so the farmer is able to take them away for us to eat!

But sometimes, the hen does sit on her eggs to incubate them.

Watch the video below to see some chicks hatching from hen's eggs.
