We are focusing on the 'y' sound today.
Notice how all of our sounds this week so far have made the same sound but have just used different letters. Click on the picture below to join in with the lesson. Use your work book and a pencil.
Play the noughts and crosses game to practice reading and writing words which include our new phoneme. Split a page in your work book (or a plain piece of paper) into a 3 by 3 grid. In each box on the grid, write a 'y' word e.g dry, fry, by, my, shy, sky, fly, cry, reply. Then using different coloured counters, or different types of coins would work well so 1ps and 2ps play noughts and crosses. With an adult at home, take it in turns to choose a box from the grid, read the word in that box, and then place your counter on the word. The first to get three counters in a row wins the game. There are pictures below to help explain how to set this up, but they're using different sounds to the 'y' we are focusing on.
