Phonics

Today in phonics we are learning about the ea phoneme

Grab a piece of paper and something to write with and join in with the lesson by clicking on the image below.

Challenge

Practice the phonemes you have seen in the video above by playing Phoneme Splat. On little pieces of paper or post it notes write down some of the phonemes we have already looked at or ones that were in the video above. For example you might use - ay, ai , a-e, ee, sh, ch, ng, mp, st, ear, ure and ea. Next to each sound put a ball of playdough if you have it or a ball of tin foil would work well. Then using a toy hammer or even a kitchen spatula splat the correct sound when an adult at home says it to you. Want to make it trickier? Can you splat the right sound when you hear it in a word. For example, if an adult says snail, you would splat ai. Repeat for words: play - ay, cake a-e, three - ee, push - sh, crunch - ch, ring - ng, lamp - mp, straw - st, bear - ear, treasure - ure, bead - ea. There is a picture below to suggest how this could be set up.
