Working Together To Be The Best We Can Be

Phonics

This week we will be learning the ai, ee, igh and oa sounds. Here are some PDFs where you can work with your child to play I spy and practice reading and writing words and captions. Do what works best for you and your child; whether that's one sound a day, or quick blasts of reading and then writing later on :-)

Extra information

Every week we'll be covering phase 3 digraphs & trigraphs. The children have already learned these and normally we would use this half term to practise them so the children can recognise them, read them in words and write them accurately and confidently.

A digraph is where two letters work together to make one sound:

Eg. sh - ship             oa - goat

oo - book            th - bath

A trigraph is where three letters work together to make one sound:

Eg. igh - light             ear - beard

      air - hair

If you would like to recap the phase 2 sounds and high frequency words they are in the two documents below:

If you would like to practice all of the phase 3 sounds and high frequency words they are in the two documents below:

If you would like a challenge, these are the phase 4 clusters. There are also the phase 4 and 5 high frequency words. Only move on to these if your child is confident on phase 2 and phase 3.
