Working Together To Be The Best We Can Be

Maths

Number of the Week.

This week, we are going to think about number

9

Can you count to 9?

Can you find 9 toys to put in a line? Can you practise counting them pointing to one toy at once?

Can you show your grown-ups 9 fingers? You might need to use both hands!

How many different ways can you find to do this?

Look out for number 9's when you are out and about on signs, labels, doors, number plates etc.

Do you have a set of dominoes at home? Can you find all the dominoes that have 9 spots altogether?

Shapes

Can you remember what is special about a rectangle?

That's right, it has 2 long sides, 2 short sides and 4 corners.

Now look at this shape.

It's called a square.

It still has 4 corners, but it's sides are all the same length!

Have a look at the images on the slide show below- can you tell your grown-up whether the objects are squares or rectangles?

Can you see any objects around your house that are squares or rectangles?
