Working Together To Be The Best We Can Be

Literacy-Reading and Writing.

Reading.

Did you enjoy the story about 'The Great Pet Sale?'

If you would like to hear it again, here is the video link again.

The Great Pet Sale

Now, can you talk to your grown-ups about what happens in the story?

Can you answer these questions about the story?

Where does the story happen?

Who really wants the little boy to buy him?

Which animals does the boy see first?

Which creatures start with the 'p' sound?

Can you remember the names of any of the other creatures in the story?

How do you know how much the animals and birds cost?

What is the biggest creature in the story?

What happens at the end?

Can you re-tell the story in your own words?

Writing/Mark-Making.

Can you draw a picture of some of the animals from the story?

Can you have a go at writing their names? Think carefully about the sound at the beginning of their name.

If you wanted to you could have a go at drawing a 'story-map' to help you to re-tell the story.

On a long piece of paper, starting at the left -hand side, draw and label a picture to show what happens at the beginning of the story. Now continue along the paper, drawing pictures to show what happens as the story continues. Finish at the right hand side of the paper with what happens at the end of the story.

We would love to see photos of any of the pictures or story-maps that you make.smiley
