Literacy- Reading and Writing

Reading.

Exciting news!!

I have discovered a new book written by Julia Donaldson!!... and it is all about

'Birds'!!

Click below to listen to the story of

'The Go-Away Bird'

The Go-Away Bird - Julia Donaldson/Catherine Rayner

A gorgeous story about #friendship and working together from a star picture-book partnership, the bestselling #JuliaDonaldson and award-winning #CatherineRay...

Now talk to your grown-ups about the story.

What kinds of birds were in the story?

What did the 'Go-Away Bird' keep saying to them?

How do you think this made the other birds feel?

What did the 'Big Brown Bird' want to do?

How did the other birds help the 'Go-Away Bird'?

What did the 'Go- Away Bird' then say to them all? How does he feel now?

Did you enjoy the story? Why?

Writing/Mark-Making.

I bet you are all missing each other lots and would like to play together like the 'Go-Away Bird' and his friends at the end of the story.

Could you make a special card or picture to send to your friend?

Draw a very special picture on the front cover.

Inside write 'Dear' and then your friend's name.

You can then have a go at writing them a special message- maybe tell them what you have been doing, and say you hope you can see each other soon.

Remember to finish with 'Love from' and have a go at writing your name.

Maybe your grown-ups will go with you to take your card to your friend's house and push it through their letter-box.smiley

Or, you could take a photograph of it and put it on our Nursery Blog for your friend to see!

Maybe he/she will then reply to your blog...?
