Literacy-Reading and Writing

Reading

This week's story is all about Gerald, the giraffe.

Oh dear!! He is feeling a little bit sad crying

There's something he's not very good at doing, and he really wants to join in with his friends.

Find out what happens by clicking on one of the video links below to listen to the story.

Giraffes Can't Dance

'Giraffe's Can't Dance'.

Did you enjoy the story?

How did Gerald feel at the end of the story? What did he learn to do?

Chat to your grown-ups- are there some things you find a little bit tricky to do, or make you feel sad because you can't do them?

I'm not very good at swimming, but I know that if I keep practising, I will get better.

Is there something you could practise doing at home with your grown-up's help so you can get better at it?

Writing

I'm sure there are lots of things too that you are very good at doingsmiley

... jumping, swimming, sharing stories, drawing pictures, riding your bike or scooter, smiling, giving big hugs...

Can you have a go at designing a poster or making a little booklet about all the things you are good at doing?

You could draw some pictures of yourself doing different activities, or ask your grown-up to take some photos of you doing them.

Then have a go at writing a little phrase, e.g.

'I can swim.'

'I can draw.'

'I can ride my bike' etc.

If you can take a photo of what you have drawn or written and ask your grown-ups to send it to me, I would love to see!
