Reading
This week's story is all about someone who wants a pet.
What is a pet?
Have you got a pet at home?
This person writes a letter to the zoo to send a pet.
Do you think the zoo is a good place to find a pet?

Writing
What animal would you like to have as a pet?
I think I would like a monkey- he would make me laugh!
Can you have a go at writing a letter to the zoo to ask for a pet?
You could draw a picture of the animal you would like, and have a go at writing the animal's name. Maybe you could fold your letter up and put it in an envelope?
Remember to write 'To the Zoo' on the front.
Grown-ups!! Please, please don't worry if your child is not using letters to 'write' with yet!!! This is completely normal!! Their 'writing' may be lines, squiggles, shapes, or some known letters (usually from their name) . The important thing is that they are making marks on the paper, and that we are giving them a reason to write. Their 'writing' will make sense to them. Ask them to tell you what they wanted it to say, and give them lots of praise for having a go.
