Please continue to share the story with your child, encouraging them to look at the illustrations, talk about what is happening, and say what might happen next.
Can your child then re-tell the story in their own words, remembering what the caterpillar did on each day?
Writing.
Use a long strip of paper - stick several sheets together, or use the back of an old roll of wallpaper.
Starting at the left-hand side, can your child draw pictures to show what happened on each day of the story? End up on the right hand side with a beautiful picture of a butterfly.
If they are able, ask them to add key words to their pictures.

Ask your child to think carefully about the sound at the beginning of these words and have a go at representing it. Please don't worry if their formation isn't completely accurate yet- the important thing is that they are making some kind of mark and having a go
