We have had a brilliant transition into FS2 life. We began looking at the magic porridge pot and thinking about what we would put in our own pot. We also tasted porridge and commented on whether we enjoyed it or not. We have been using tens frames to count a variety of objects; talking about how many we have, how many empty spaces are left and finding the correct numeral.
We then moved onto looking at breakfasts and voting for our favourite cereal. We used mathematical language to compare our results. We also used numicon to order quantities up to10. In literacy we used our phonics knowledge to write the initial sounds in words.
We ended the half term by looking at the 'The Little Red Hen.' We baked bread and butter and watched how the properties of the initial ingredients changed throughout the process. We also wrote CVC words for the animals that are in the story and some of us started to wrote simple sentences for the animals. We tried different breakfasts from around the world and we learned facts about the countries that they came from. We made some amazing hen related crafts which focused on developing our fine motor skills.
I can't wait to carry on our learning in Autumn 2!
